Raymundo Bustos, MD

I am from Rome, Georgia, and my future professional interest is working in a rural setting, particularly with underserved communities. Some of my hobbies include herping—the study of reptiles and amphibians—and hunting. A fun fact about me is that I am very interested in visiting the International UFO Museum in Roswell, NM.

Martin Jurado, MD

Originally from Durango, Mexico, and raised in Belen, New Mexico, I am thrilled to continue my training here at home. Growing up surrounded by many tías (aunts), I learned the importance of women's health early on. In medical school, I realized the profound impact women have on society and their communities. This led me to choose the field of OB/GYN, where I can combine primary care, patient advocacy, and surgical skills to provide care to all women. When I’m not at the hospital, you can usually find me at the gym, snowboarding, mountain biking, training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, or video gaming.

Diana Rascon, MD

I grew up mostly in San Antonio, Texas, and before medical school, I worked as a radiation therapist delivering cancer treatments. I chose OB/GYN because I love building relationships with patients, being in the OR, and delivering babies. I am passionate about women’s health, improving health literacy, overcoming socioeconomic barriers, and patient advocacy. In my free time, I enjoy going out, spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, gardening, and exploring various hobbies. I’m excited to work with the diverse population in New Mexico.

Jessica Rodriguez-Hernandez, MD

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico (¡una Boricua del oeste!). I am passionate about women’s health and empowerment, diversity in medicine, mental health, and healthcare equity for underserved communities. I chose OB/GYN because it perfectly combines preventive medicine, continuity of care, surgical procedures, and an active lifestyle. I enjoy going to the beach and spending time with friends and loved ones. Two fun facts about me: I saw snow for the first time in my late twenties, and I can’t resist trying to pet any cat I see. I’m thrilled to be joining UNM for my residency training and excited to meet the whole team in June.

Mingma Sherpa, MD

I was born and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal, and moved to New Mexico at 18 for my undergraduate studies. I attended medical school at UNM, and I’m beyond excited to continue my training here. I am passionate about reproductive justice and addressing the social determinants of health, with hopes of working in a rural community in the future. In my free time, I love visiting national parks, hiking, going on long walks with my dog, Phuchu, watching movies, and knitting.

Adrianne Smith, MD

Amarilis Camacho-Quinones, MD

I am from Toa Baja, Puerto Rico. I chose to become an Ob/Gyn because I am deeply passionate about women's health, a field that combines both primary care and surgical procedures. I love spending time with my family, friends, and my beautiful doggie daughters. I am incredibly excited to start as an intern at UNM, and I feel very grateful for this opportunity.

Juliete Durstock-Castillo, MD

I grew up mostly in El Paso, TX, though I also lived in North Carolina as a child and attended medical school at UNC. I was drawn to OBGYN because it combines primary care, surgery, and procedures, while also allowing me to support patients through both the highs and lows of their lives. I’m passionate about Addiction Medicine, working with underserved communities, and palliative care. In my free time, I love exploring new restaurants and breweries or relaxing with my husband and cat while crocheting and watching my favorite TV shows.

Hannah Dowdy-Sue, MD

Growing up in Albuquerque has inspired me in countless ways! After attending UNM for both undergrad and medical school, I am incredibly proud to continue my medical journey as an OB/Gyn here in New Mexico. I am passionate about reproductive justice and equality, using my voice to advocate for others' rights and fostering long-lasting connections within the communities I serve. Outside of work, I enjoy supporting my partner in his biking endeavors, gardening, relaxing with my rabbits, and indulging in my newfound hobby of carding and spinning wool into yarn.

Destinie Marquez, MD

I am Destinie Marquez (she/her), an Afro-Latina from Roswell, NM. I've wanted to become a doctor for as long as I can remember and fell in love with women’s health along the way. It is an honor to support women, men, families, and the LGBTQ+ community during such special and momentous times in their lives. I am particularly interested in maternal-fetal medicine and family planning as potential fellowship pursuits, with a special focus on Black maternal health. In my free time, I enjoy painting, traveling and exploring, going for walks with my dog, and trying out new coffee shops.

Valeria Pereira, MD

Ich wurde in Puerto Rico geboren und lebe seit meinem elften Lebensjahr in Florida. Es liegt mir am Herzen, den Unterversorgten zu helfen, gesundheitliche Ungleichheiten anzugehen und mich für die akademische Medizin einzusetzen. Außerdem liegt mir die Schaffung eines sicheren Raums im Gesundheitswesen für Menschen in der LGBTQIA+-Community am Herzen. Zu meinen Hobbys zählen das Entdecken lokaler Cafés und Restaurants, Karaoke und das Hören von Hörbüchern. Eine lustige Tatsache über mich selbst ist, dass ich Mutter eines Hundes und dreier Katzen bin.

Fabiola Miranda, MD

I was born in Lima, Peru, but my family is from Cusco. I grew up in Los Angeles, CA, attended college at Emory in Atlanta, GA, and went to medical school at FIU in Miami, FL. I am THRILLED to be in Albuquerque, NM, and I’m in awe of its beauty! I feel that OB/GYN chose me—I love the mix of surgery and continuity of care, and I feel honored to care for the female patient population. I am committed to advocating for women's healthcare needs and serving as a culturally competent provider. I am interested in high-risk obstetrics, preventive care in oncology, and pursuing a fellowship. I love running, tennis, cooking, dancing, reading, spending time with my family, and annoying my cat.

Chloe Fournier-Hall, MD

I was born and raised in Albuquerque, and I am thrilled to be home for Ob/Gyn residency! I went to college at Princeton, where I majored in Religion and Creative Writing, and earned my MD-MPH at the University of Chicago, where I learned to dress for Midwest winters and swam all summer in Lake Michigan. Between undergrad and med school, I spent several years in Indonesia, Santa Fe (where I worked as a bilingual community sex educator), and the Philadelphia suburbs, where I completed a post-bac at Bryn Mawr College. 

I decided to train at UNM because I love Albuquerque, the warm and supportive culture of our program, the opportunities for full-spectrum training including abortion care, and our amazing patient population, which comes to us from all over the Southwest. I'm also grateful to be closer to my family, including my nieces (ages 4 and 7). My interests in Ob/Gyn include family planning, substance use disorders in pregnancy, and Indigenous maternal and gynecological health.

Outside of work, you can find me walking or biking in the Bosque (my husband and I live in the North Valley, in the neighborhood where I grew up), roasting a chicken, reading a novel, or soaking in one of New Mexico's many delightful hot springs.

Kenzie Corbin, MD

Hi everyone, my name is C. Kenzie Corbin, and I’m incredibly grateful to be an OB/GYN resident here at UNM.

I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, and went to Lafayette College in Easton, PA, for undergrad, where I completed a dual degree in Neuroscience and French with a minor in bioengineering. After graduation, I worked as an English Teaching Assistant in Lille, France. I then moved back to the Midwest for medical school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where I became passionate about medical trainee mental health and wellbeing, as well as the intersection of mental illness and substance use in pregnancy. I chose OB/GYN because it allows for great continuity of care with patients and incorporates both surgical and clinic-based work. I fell in love with the Southwestern culture after doing an away rotation and knew that UNM would be the perfect fit. I was ecstatic to match at my number-one choice!

In my free time, I enjoy rock climbing, yoga, everything Peloton, going on hikes with my partner and our chihuahua-cattle dog, Munchie, and talking about chakras and crystals.

Jessica Benally, MD

Yá’át’ééh, I am a member of the Diné (Navajo) Nation and was raised in a small community north of Gallup, NM, called Rocksprings. After graduating from UNM medical school, I chose UNM OB-GYN because I wanted a specialty that combines primary care, surgery, and the ability to advocate for reproductive rights in underserved and rural communities. UNM also serves a culturally diverse and medically complex population, including more than 20 Native American tribes. Currently, I am interested in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Indigenous Health. In my free time, I enjoy growing my plant collection, watching Das Mindy-Projekt with my daughter, and visiting the Gallup flea market on my weekends off.
